Jonas Kobberdal

Jonas Kobberdal

Jonas was born in Oslo, Norway, and discovered his passion for acting early on. After seeing his first show at the age of three, Jonas went straight home to create a one-kid version to be performed in his bedroom. From here there was only one way to go, forward! In 2013 he took on a year of intensive training at Romerike Folkehøgskole. After completing the program he was accepted to “Forstudium Teater,” a One-Year Foundation Course in acting at the Oslo School of Music and Culture.

Jonas moved to New York in 2016 to study at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Here he played Leontes in The Winter’s Tale and Dr. Givings in In the Next Room, or the Vibrator Play for his graduation series. After graduating with an Associate Degree he was invited to join the prestigious Academy Company, an additional year where outstanding students build an ensemble together and, as a Company, perform in a year-long season of productions. Credits from the Academy Company include Pastor Manders in Ibsen’s Ghosts, directed by Jonathan Bolt. Falstaff, John of Gaunt, Old Clifford and more in The Richard Project, a new take on Shakespeare’s history plays, adapted, written and directed by RSC’s Owen Horsley. Bob Hope in the world premiere of the new original musical Star-Spangled written and directed by Douglas Carter Beane, with music by Lewis Flynn and Choreography by Joey Pizzi. Herman Glogauer in Once in a Lifetime, directed by Jonathan Bolt and Monkeyfat, Uncle Probst & Locksmith in Wedekind’s Spring Awakening, directed by Barbara Rubin.

After graduation, Jonas stayed in New York, building credits and relationships. He has obtained full US work authorization. Jonas also directed and produced the Short Film “DISTANT” and is a proud company player with
Yonder Window Theatre Company.
